Cho-la Pass, also known as Everest Circuit trek, is one of the most adventurous trekking in the Khumbu (Everest) region. It follows the route via the high pass of Cho-La at 5380 meters into the footprint of Mount Everest. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Everest 8848.86 m, including several other similar peaks, and explore the Sherpa hospitality the highlight of Chola pass trekking.
A unique trek that goes through Lukla, Namche bazaar and all the way to the Gokyo valley then cross Chola Pass, climb the Kalapattar and visit to Everest Base Camp then turn to Tengboche Monastery, Namche and end trek in Lukla.
Chola Pass via Everest base camp Trekking is led to the home of the legendary of Sherpa people, based at the foothills of the highest peak in the world; Mt. Everest at 8848 meter. Chola pass trek follows the highly praised trekking route through the Dudh Koshi River to its source in the Gokyo Lake which is to the west of the Everest Base Camp, giving you the benefit to summit Gokyo Peak (5483 meters) offering a fantastic panoramic view of Cho Oyo, Everest and Makalu. Crossing over Chola at an altitude of 5340 meters, we could be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. Start to climb steeply that is regularly used and easy to follow, however, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered in snow (in winter). As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent views, and then we descend to the Dzongla at noon. We will bring some pack lunch as well as would recommend to our clients to bring some chocolate, cookies and enough water. As we cross the Cho-La pass, either return back to Lukla or visit Everest Base Camp. Our itinerary brings you Everest Base Camp and early morning view from Kalapattar down to Tengboche monastery, Khumjung village, Namche Bazaar and Lukla, short flight return to Kathmandu.
Asian Hiking Team organizes Chola pass via Everest Base camp trekking as Guesthouses/Hotel basic. Our local guides have many years of guiding experience in the Everest region. Many of our guides and porters originally came from that area. Our guides are trained in first aid, Guide training from NATHAM and know how to handle any situation. We need to provide guides who can get people to feel involved in what they are experiencing, explain it thoroughly and keep them entertained. They know very well how to facilitate a smooth and safe trip, appreciating the beauty of the Khumbu Himalayas. Our porters carry 25 to 30 KG, those all are Rai or Sherpa ethnic groups and professional potters. Their firsthand experience, local knowledge, expertise and humor on treks are invaluable.
Day by day itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu; final preparation for trekking, group meeting, overnight at 2-3 star Hotel (B).
Trekking Starting 15 days
Day 02: Flight to Lukla and Trekking to Phakding 2640m, 3.30 hours, overnight at Namaste Lodge or See You Lodge or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Note: in the season time, there are no direct flight to Lukla (air traffic in Kathmandu airport) so early morning drive to Ramechhap airport, 4 hours and flight to Lukla and continues trekking to Phakding.
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3440 m, 5/6 hours, overnight at Hotel Namche or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 04: Namche Bazaar full day Acclimatization rest, overnight at hotel Namche or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 05: Trek to Dole 4260 m 6 hours, overnight at Dole Resort or similar Hotel(B/L/D).
Day 06: Trek to Machherma 4470 m 5 hours, overnight Machhermo Guest house or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 07: Trek to Gokyo 4790 m 4 hours, overnight at Gokyo Resort or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 08: Climb Gokyo Ri and rest and explore – Acclimatization day, overnight at Gokyo Resort (B/L/D).
Day 09: Trek to Thangna 4600 m, 4 hours, overnight at Himalayan Green Valley or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 10: Trek to Chola pass 5380 m continues to Dzongla 4710 m 8/9 hours, overnight at Lodge (B/L/D).
Day 11: Trek to Lobuje 4910 m 3 hours, overnight at Hotel Peak 15 or National Park or Hotel Sherpa or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 12: Trek to Gorap-shep 5170 m, 3 hours to Everest Base Camp 5370 m return Gorap-shep 5 hours, overnight at Snow land Lodge, Everest Inn or similar Hotel (B/L/D).
Day 13: Early morning climb Kalapattar 5545 m / 2 hours, Trek to Dingboche 4410 m 5/6 hours, overnight at Hotel Good Luck (B/L/D).
Day 14: Trek to Tengboche 3867 m, 4 hours, overnight at Hotel Himalaya or Hotel Tashidelek (B/L/D).
Day 15: Trek to Manju 2830 m, 5 hours, overnight at Hotel Manju (B/L/D).
Day 16: Trek to Lukla 2840, 4 hours, overnight in Hotel The Nest (B/L/D).
Trekking End
Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu 1360 m, 35 minute, overnight in Hotel (BB).
Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu or next trip (B).
Note: It is noticeable that Lukla flight is depending on weather. It is possible to drive to Sallery or continues to Surkhe (2 days drive by bus/jeep). If you are interest to do Chitwan Jungle Safari, White Water River Rafting, Paragliding, Bungee Jump, let us know, Those programs need a few extra days.
Cost and payment details
The cost is depending on group size, affected due to the requirement of number of guides and porters, requisite of Hotel in Kathmandu, method of land/air transport. The itinerary is changeable and modifiable as per needs and time frame of trekkers. Cost will be re calculated if the itinerary is changed or modified. Service cost Including:
- Transport: - Kathmandu to Lukla and Lukla to Kathmandu flight ticket (Sita Air/ Tara Air/ Yeti Air/ Summit Air). Airport drop and pick up by Car/ Van. If your floght from Ramechhap airport, we provide the both way transport to/from Ramechhap.
- Hotel Accommodation: 2-3-star hotel in Kathmandu as itinerary, all accommodation during the trekking, Hotel accommodation - Lukla- Hotel The Nest, Phakding - Sherpa Lodge, Namche Bazaar - Hotel Namche, Tengboche - Hotel Gomba or Himalaya Guest House, Dole - Hotel Sherpa, Gokyo - Gokyo Resort or Namaste Guest house, Gorepshep - Hotel Himalaya or Hotel Yeti, Dingbiche - Hotel Good Luck, Lobuje - Hotel National park or Hotel Sherpa.
- Food: Three times meals - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. You can choose the menu. There are server items on the menu.
- Permits: You need Sagarmath National Park permit, TIMS trekking permit and Local entry permit or fees. We will collect all permit before your departure except the Local entry permit. Local entry permit we pay in Lukla.
- Guide/Porter: We provide a First Aid and Eco trained & Government licensed holder professional equipped English-speaking guide. One Porter between each 2 members while on trek (Maximum weight for a porter is 25 Kg). For the guide and porters are includes accommodation, meals, daily salary, equipment, transportation & Insurance.
- Equipment: We will provide blanket or sleeping bag. Please check personal trekking equipment in check list which is not includes.
- Others: Cargos fees, load upload to/from Lukla fees. First Aid Kit, Travel & Rescue arrangement. All government taxes/ service charges.
Service cost excludes:
- Personal things: Personal trekking gears, Personal natural expensive, personal trekking insurance.
- Drinks: Hot drinks, hot water, tea coffee, cold drinks, hot showers etc.
- Others: Tips, donation etc.
Notes: Payment should be made 20 % of total amount in advance. Full amount must be paid before your trip starts.
Cancellation should be made 48 hours before departure and 20% cancellation charge is applicable beside Tax, transportation, permits and others fixed expensive.
In case of incomplete Trekking / Tour / Rafting / Climbing / Expedition / Jungles safari / or others days due to the client own problem, the amount of money paid not refundable.
If clients want to go Trekking / Tour / Rafting / Climbing / Expedition / Jungles safari / or others tours more than itinerary, they can pay after back from tour with per day basic but should be permission with Tour guide / Leader.
